Tired of the irritating pop up ads each time you login to Yahoo! Messenger ? If yes, then no need to tolerate these ads. Get rid of them now.
While trying to figure out how to remove these ads, I came across a way to get rid of these. The way we are going to do this is through registry editing.
Follow these steps:
1. Click Start>Run. Type 'regedit'.
2. Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Yahoo -> Pager -> Locale
3. Right click "Enable Messenger Ad" and click on 'Modify'.
4. Enter the value as '0'.
Note: I tried this trick on Yahoo! Messenger 9. Don't know if this would work on the previous versions or not but I think it should. If you want to enable that ad windows again, edit that Binary value as '1' again.
If you don't want to mess up with your registry, then no need to worry.
Download this patch. Not will it just make the messenger ads-free but will also make it a multi messenger ie. you will be able to open 2 or 3 accounts of yours simultaneously and chat.
There you go. Now open the messenger and login. You won't see the pop up ad this time.
