TorGuard Anonymizes Your Web Browsing

Browsing anonymously is the latest trend for many Internet users, but it's actually been the way for a variety of personal and business users. Whether you simply want to download in private, browse to your favorite websites without being tracked or just anonymize your entire connection so you don't have to deal with companies trying to advertise to you, it's a win-win for anyone who uses TorGuard.

TorGuard offers so many valuable services to Internet users. You can purchase a private VPN or use secret torrent proxies in order to access your favorite sites without exposing all of your public information. It's also the best way to secure all of your data. TorGuard offers its services in over six countries, including the USA, Netherlands, Russia, Romania and New Zealand. Once you buy a VPN, you receive unlimited bandwidth, unlimited speeds and openVPN and PPTP. You can finally browse in peace knowing that no one can access your information. This is especially important to those who use a public WiFi connection. You can also mask your identity or create an entirely new online identity, as well as bypass censorship so you can browse the Internet without limitations. This is especially true for countries who block NetFlix, Hulu, Pandora and Facebook. Tired of getting those letters from your ISP? Use a TorGuard proxy and stop worrying!

Firefox 3 beta 2 Out

Mozilla fans can now download Firefox 3 beta 2 for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

The new version comes with a wide range of improvements over the first test version, most notably plugs for memory leaks, security fixes, and a download manager that includes improvements previously available only through plug-ins.

The security enhancements get fairly technical, but the Firefox developer's Web page states that the new version offers "protection from cross-site JSON data leaks, tighter restrictions on site-specific content using effective TLD service, better presentation of Web site identity and security, malware protection, stricter SSL error pages, antivirus integration in the download manager, (and) version checking for insecure plug-ins."

The updates made to the download manager are pretty good, and they're far easier to parse. The new download manager lets you resume stopped downloads, and it has the much needed built-in virus checker.

You can also zoom in on parts of a Web page, and the integration between bookmarks, the location bar, and bookmark folders has become tighter. There's now one-click bookmarking, smart folders for bookmarks, and the location bar checks against your bookmarks and history for page titles and URLs.

The Firefox developers also claim that Web site rendering is now faster than it was in Firefox 3 beta 1, but empirically, there is not much difference. Either way, it's definitely faster than it is in Firefox 2.

If you want to be in the safe run and don't want to accidentally damage your current installation of Firefox 2 by installing the beta, I recommend you to try out the the portable version. With the portable version, you can try both the versions simultaneously without affecting your current settings.

Get most out of Firefox - Speed it up

Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured web browser that makes browsing more efficient than ever before.
If you're already using Firefox on a broadband connection, here's some tweaking you can do to make your browsing even faster.

#. Open Firefox.
#. Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.

1. HTTP PIPELINING
Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

2. Right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

3. DNS
IPv6 was designed in part to solve the problem IPv4 will soon be facing: the exhaustion of all possible IP addresses. Mozilla implemented IPv6 support in early 2000, but that support did not receive widespread testing until recently as IPv6-capable OSs and network software/equipment became more common.
One particular bug that has appeared exists not in Mozilla, but in IPv6-capable DNS servers: an IPv4 address may be returned when an IPv6 address is requested. It is possible for Mozilla to recover from this misinformation, but a significant delay is introduced.

Type "network.dns.disableIPv6" in the filter bar and set this option to true by double clicking on it.

4. UI SUBMENU DELAY
This preference controls the time a menu takes to open a sub-menu. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
Enter "ui.submenuDelay" in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 0 and click OK.

5. BROWSER CACHE MEMORY CAPACITY
When a page is loaded, it can be cached so it doesn't need to be re-rendered to be redisplayed. This preference controls the maximum amount of memory to use for caching decoded images and chrome. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.

Enter "browser.cache.memory.capacity" in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 65536 and click OK.

Best Add-Ons for IE7

No web browser is perfect, and no web browser does everything just the way everyone wants it to.
Enter add-ons. Also called extensions or plug-ins, add-ons let third-party companies and users with programming skills extend the browser's functionality in different ways. They are your ticket to a customized web.

Here are a few cool add-ons for Internet Explorer 7 ..

1. ieSpell
It's a shame a spell-checker wasn't built into IE7, but ieSpell corrects that oversight. Once installed, ieSpell does a nice job of staying out of the way until you need it. There are three ways to activate the spell-checker: from the tools menu, from its own top-level menu and from the contextual (right-click) menu. If you happen to use a branded version of IE7 such as those from MSN or AOL, ieSpell will only be accessible from the right-click menu. IeSpell is also available for Internet Explorer 6.

2. Inline Search
Supercharging Internet Explorer's searching capabilities, Inline Search provides find-as-you-type functionality on the web page you're currently visiting. A quick keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-F) will bring up a toolbar at the base of your browser window, a behavior that closely mimics Firefox's built-in search functionality. Inline Search lets you find as you type, highlight all instances of your search terms on the page or make your search case-sensitive. Regrettably, the keyboard shortcuts aren't customizable, so you'll want to memorize the following shortcuts: Esc closes the search pane when it's in focus, F3 or Enter will find the next occurrence of your search term and Shift-F3 or Shift-Enter will find the previous occurrence. Inline Search is also available for IE6.

3. IE7 Open Last Closed Tab
This add-on does exactly what its name implies: It creates a keyboard shortcut (Alt-X) to restore a tab after it's been closed. IE7 Open Last Closed Tab isn't the most glamorous of add-ons, but it will save you from fat-fingered mistakes and overly hasty decisions.

4. Add Search Providers
With this you can add new search engines to IE7's built-in search field with ease. Head over to the Add Search Providers page and choose your preferred service's pre-built tool. Don't see your favorite site listed ? Just follow the instructions for the Add Search Provider page's Create Your Own tool. IE7 does the rest.

5. Trailfire Toolbar
Leave behind virtual sticky notes on web pages for others to view. IE7 users can install the add-on and start sharing "trailmarks" with fellow Trailfire users. These marks are little notes on individual web pages that can be strung together to form your own interpretive trail across the web. Trailfire Toolbar is also available for IE6.

6. GooglePreviewIE
Want to see a preview of a web page before you visit? The GooglePreviewIE toolbar provides customized search-results pages with thumbnail previews for popular sites like Google, Yahoo and Amazon. GooglePreviewIE's thumbnail images are only visible when searching through the toolbar -- a normal web search will still give you default results. It's extra handy for image and product searches. GooglePreviewIE is also available for IE6.

7. Mouse Gestures for Internet Explorer
Mouse Gestures for Internet Explorer adds Firefox/Opera style mouse gesture support to IE7 allowing the user to execute commonly performed tasks by drawing a symbol on the browser screen.
